Project Value
$500,000

Client
Royal Melbourne Hospital

Project Outcomes
The design provided an innovative solution which has the potential to reduce the potential for hospital acquired infection or cross infection between patient and staff.

Bassett Solution
Bassett Applied Research was commissioned by the Royal Melbourne Hospital to undertake modelling and assist in developing the design of an improved ventilation system for isolation wards. The purpose of the study was to test the existing design guidelines and develop improved ventilation system to minimise the potential for cross contamination.

Specific Activities
Bassett Applied Research undertook the analysis using Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software validated by on-site smoke tests conducted by the hospital.

Value for Client
By using the CFD software, Bassett Applied Research was able to investigate the effectiveness of a number of solutions prior to construction.
