Client Needs
TJH required accurate noise modelling of the tollway to ensure that noise levels do not exceed the contractual requirements. Our assignment was for the design of Noise Walls and Construction Phase Noise and Vibration Advice. Bassett Acoustics has been involved in the project since late 90's when the project evolved from the Eastern Freeway Extension to the EastLink (Mitcham Frankston Toll way). The project design is complete and the project is currently in construction and due to open to the public in 2008.
Value for Client
The project includes roadside noise barriers that Bassett cost optimized using advanced design software. The inputs to the optimization algorithm included materials and construction costs for walls and berms. Land acquisition costs could also have been included. Bassett Acoustics also produced three-dimensional rendered images of various road sections, animated drive through movies, and noise contour maps to assist the project team with visualisation of the barrier design.
