Client Needs
Marion Council required a landmark building that reflected its commitment to the technological and cultural development of its community.

Bassett Solution
Ahead of its time, this project was heavily focussed on providing a facility that was functional, whilst incorporating significant ecologically sustainable design initiatives. The best example is the building’s form, including the heavily sculptured front elevation, developed to optimise shading with the maximum ingress of natural light. The building incorporates a 250 seat Theatrette, Resource/Learning Centre (Library) and an “A” Class Gallery.

Value to Client
Through extensive thermal modelling and whole-of-life cycle costing, these initiatives resulted in optimising the buildings’ whole-of-life cost; delivering ongoing energy and operational cost savings to the client.
