Client Needs
The Alfred Centre will be a flagship development for the Victorian health care system, and will serve as a model for the future of health care in Victoria. The project has been developed in partnership with Alfred and Department of Human Services. The Centre is approximately a $90M innovative health care development which will provide short-stay elective surgery, diagnostic procedures and other planned services for public hospital patients throughout Victoria.
Bassett Solution
The Centre will provide a one-stop service and minimize the need for multiple hospital visits. The primary focus of the centre is to reduce waiting times for elective surgery and to separate emergency and elective procedures.
Value for Client
Engineering services design requirements presented a unique challenge for the Bassett Design Team. Not only had the engineering system needed to meet the operational requirements for the planned departments, it had to be environmentally friendly, flexible and adaptable for future clinical functions.
The condition of the existing Alfred Engineering infrastructure led to the strategic decision that the Alfred Centre Engineering and Information Technology and Communications systems would be designed and configured to allow a level of integration some now and some in the future to enhance the reliability and operations of The Alfred Centre and The Alfred Hospital network.
