Client Needs
The State Government of Western Australia conducted a design competition to seek out a landmark proposition for the prestigious site centrally located in the heart of the Perth central business district. The client was in quest of a high quality architectural design that would revitalise the defined pedestrian and vehicular nodes, as well as integrating with the adjoining heritage buildings and public domain spaces. It would be a leading example in sustainable building design in Western Australia.

Bassett Solution
As the design engineer for the winning Evolution Consortium, we executed a design that was respectful and sustainable in form making, maximising light and shade. We focused on minimising the amount of energy the building absorbs from artificial environments and utilised natural cooling properties that would intrinsically respond to the Western Australian climate.  This exceptional project will receive a 4.5 Star ABRG Rating, and be the first 5 Star GreenStar Building in Western Australia.

The design of the Evolution Consortium exceeds the client?s needs, and most importantly will surpass the expectations of the wider public with its quality office and civic spaces, retail and entertainment precinct. Linkage to Forrest Place, the GPO and the train station will create a celebration of life unique to the City.
