Civil & Mechanical Design of District Cooling Distribution Network

Maunsell were commissioned by Empower, a major District Cooling provider in Dubai, to undertake the detailed design and supervise construction of the City of Arabia District Cooling Distribution Network.

The City of Arabia site contains commercial and residential facilities including Wadi Walk, Restless Plant and Mall of Arabia with a total 120,000 RT of district cooling requirements delivered from two district cooling plants on the site via 25km of pre- insulated buried steel distribution piping.

Maunsell undertook the detailed design and tendering of the works  including;

• Conceptual Design 
• Detailed Coordination with Infrastructure
• Hydraulic Design with detailed computer analysis
• Structural Design with detailed computer Stress Analysis
• Preparation of Tender and Construction Documentation
• Prequalification of suitable contractors
• Management of Tender Process
• Tender Assessment

Maunsell’s scope also included site supervision and overseeing the construction of the distribution network.
