To develop a prestigious facility to accommodate Australia II, the yacht that won the Americas Cup, and to be of significant tourism and cultural value to Western Australia.
Bassett Solution
Bassett's role was to undertake the mechanical services and the performance based fire engineering for this significant project, which encompassed solutions for underfloor air conditioning, précised humidity control and fire engineered solutions.
Value for Client
The building's landmark design necessitated innovation in the method of heat rejection, to replace the traditional cooling tower solution. A ground water aquifer was utilised as the method of heat rejection, thereby eliminating the need for a cooling tower, addressing the concerns in respect of aesthetics, reducing running costs and eliminating the issue of Legionella.
